A20 John Henry van der Meer

Eine fachliche Instanz über Jahrzehnte.

John Henry van der Meer (*1920 - †2008) was responsible for a period of 21 years for the collection of musical instruments of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg and was always willing to share his experiences. Even at the age of 84 years he maintained a voluminous correspondence. In this way I got an insight into the latest developments of organology, as it can not be taken from books. Since the founding of the discipline by Kurt Sachs, there has been considerable gain of knowledge with positive impact, not least on the musical practice, for example the Concentus Musicus, directed by Nicolaus Harnoncourt.
