A9 He never came with a wheelbarrow in the lecture ...

... but his practical orientation would have allowed this. Prof. Manfred Schuller, born in 1953, Lecturer in construction history at the University of Bamberg, now holds the chair of Building History, Building Archaeology and Restoration at the Technical University of Munich, is interested in the production process in architecture and shows for example at a cathedral the stages of construction, refers to partly re-used relics of previous buildings, the planning changes, burn marks, repairs and other interventions. Likewise, he is interested in the used tools and measurement methods in the timber- and roof construction. The view has been mediated in practice by measuring the deformations on historical monuments.

Also on an historical instrument, the analysis in this regard is an indispensable research component. To get a sense of the former used tools may be decisive in determining the age. As in the experimental archeology the reconstruction is needed in order to gain clarity on the requirements of the development process. Although the work ha do be done by hands, mastery of the material is primarily matter of the head.
